Creating Equality in Minneapolis and St. Paul

Last May when I was in St. Paul for the Minnesota AIDS walk, I took a moment to sit with Danny, the program assistant for the Out for Equity with the St. Paul school district.  When we taped this, he was just ending the year with the program and was extremely happy after the successful year that Out for Equity had.  Since we taped this video, Danny has taken a new position with the Humane Society.  One of the things that I unfortunately had to edit out was his love for animals and so taking this new position is on Danny’s dream job list.

This edited version does share his love for the twin cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, and why he feels at home here.  Where we feel the most at home is an extremely large part of being able to be productive and creates a space where we can contribute the most to our community.  This video of course, is ended with Danny’s definition of community.  It is one of the main focal points of Project Kinect and we must always remind ourselves that we are a part of a community.

WE ARE ALL INVOLVED!!!

Minnesota AIDS Walk

Last Sunday I went to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area so I could walk the 2011 Minnesota AIDS Walk.  I was walking with the St. Paul Public Schools(SPPS) Gay Straight Alliances(GSA) that are sponsored by a St. Paul organization called Out for Equity.  Together, our team raised over two thousand dollars with a total of about twenty-five walkers.  It really was an amazing day.  The day was full of pride, excitement and huge sense of community was raised because we were all there to help raise awareness on AIDS/ HIV and promote the education of it.

Sitting on the Floor in O’Hare

Yesterday, there was this crazy limping man running through O’Hare International Airport.  It was me.  My flight was late getting in and the one going out was ahead of schedule and the distance between the two gates was huge.  So, I got a chance to charge my computer, edit a couple of videos and experience a little more of security measures post the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

The brilliance of my later flight also lead to me seeing an air view of where I grew up for the first time. The way the airport situation is, I’ve never flown completely over where I am from and I have a new-found love for that area of southwestern Wisconsin. The layout of the land and water is so random that it makes up this mysterious landscape that I have only just realized how the whole of it is even more amazing than I originally thought.
