Vision

I believe that we, as humans, need, want and desire human connection constantly.  For some reason, through the advancement of technology, fear, and different social influences, we have become numb to the craving for that very human connection we need.  I hope that through Project Kinect, I can inspire this human connection and display how it is happening and where we all have opportunities to actually connect to the people in our daily lives.  If we didn’t yearn for human connection, then facebook, myspace, twitter and every other online community would not be enormous changes in the way we live our lives.  Through Project Kinect, we can all remind ourselves how to connect and what it means to actually be a part of another person’s life.

Today we see the word connect added to everything.  We see it in commercials to buy the latest hand held web-surfing devise.  We need to connect with our loved ones on facebook and of course, we won’t be able to connect with a possible soul mate if we don’t get on a certain dating website.  With all of this connecting, it seems that we are losing actual human connections. In all these great leaps in technology and social movement, I’m afraid that we are becoming less effective in the ways we connect as a society.

I want to see if this is true or not.  By traveling, getting involved in different communities, meeting as many different people as possible and seeing how they are having very personal human connections, I will make my own assessment if we are truly becoming less effective.    I feel by comparing different communities and by finding about the lives of different people, I can get an idea of where we are as a society.  I will be able to share my journey on projectkinect.com and followers can make their own assessment.

I have always been very committed to human connection.  For  two years I have ran a Starbucks and in our core values, human connection is a priority.  That is what drew me to the company.  With Project Kinect, I feel that I can ignite that same passion in the people I meet as well as the people who get involved with Project Kinect through different internet venues.  Join me in this project with your own experiences, journeys and observations.
